SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH-BORROWED WORDS IN THE KOREAN AND KARAKALPAK LANGUAGES
Feruza Iskanderovna Jumaniazova , Akerke Bakhbergenova ,Abstract
This article provides a comparative analysis of the semantic features of loan lexical units that have entered the Korean and Karakalpak languages from English. Within the scope of the study, the adaptation of lexemes of English origin to the linguistic systems of both languages, their semantic fields, cases of polysemy, metaphorical and metonymic extensions, as well as cultural connotations are examined. The analyses demonstrate that English borrowings in Korean primarily undergo semantic expansion through the discourse of pop culture, technology, and media, whereas borrowings in Karakalpak display semantic adaptation more closely associated with everyday life, economic processes, and social needs. The article scientifically elucidates how the cultural context of each language influences the meanings of borrowed words.
