Abstract

This article examines the "As-Sihah fi al-Lugha" by the great 10th-century philologist Isma'il al-Jawhari, a work that revolutionized Arabic lexicography. The study analyzes the unique "rhyme order" (qafiya) system, the author's principles of "authenticity" in word selection, and the influence of this source on Western Orientalism and Ottoman Turkish culture.
