THE ROLE OF BEHAVIORISM IN SHAPING CONTEMPORARY TEACHING METHODS

Munisa Mansurova ,

Abstract

This article examines the impact of behaviorism as one of the fundamental learning theories on modern pedagogical methods. The focus is on the core principles of classical and operant conditioning, developed by I. P. Pavlov and B. F. Skinner, and their application in managing student behavior and educational technologies. The paper analyzes methods of positive and negative reinforcement, programmed instruction, and computer-assisted learning. Despite criticism for neglecting internal mental processes, behaviorism remains an effective tool in educational practice, particularly in primary education, language learning, and special pedagogy.
