This article examines the peculiarities of the tea trade and its consumption in Central Asia during the 18th and 19th centuries. The analysis is based on historical sources, archival materials, and travel notes. The region is considered an important transit node within trans-Asian tea trade routes between China and Russia. Special attention is paid to the typology and popularity of six different varieties of tea.
