THE “GREAT GAME” IN 19TH-CENTURY CENTRAL ASIA: GEOPOLITICAL RIVALRY AND IMPERIAL STRATEGY

This study examines the strategic rivalry between the Russian and British Empires in Central Asia during the 19th century “Great Game.” It explores the political, economic, and military conditions of local khanates, as well as intelligence activities and diplomatic relations. The research is based on historical sources, ambassadorial letters, and expedition reports. The topic is relevant not only historically but also for contemporary geopolitical analysis. The findings provide insights into imperial policies and the dynamics of regional power relations.
