THE CONCEPTS OF JUSTICE, LAW, AND SOCIAL ORDER IN THE SOCIO-POLITICAL THOUGHT OF THE QORAXONIYLAR PERIOD

This article examines the formation and meaning of justice, law and social order in the socio-political thought of the Karakhanid period. Yusuf Khas Hajib’s “Kutadgu Bilig” and Mahmud al-Kashgari’s “Diwan Lughat al-Turk” are used as the principal historical sources. Contemporary studies by Uzbek scholars are also examined comparatively. The article also discusses the historical and philosophical significance of these ideas for contemporary legal and civic culture in Uzbekistan.
