Yulduz U. Akramova ,Abstract
At the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century, Abdurahmon, who played a significant role in strengthening the state, eliminating internal conflicts, and making Afghanistan independent from the British Empire to a certain extent, became the king of Afghanistan. During the reign of Abdur Rahman Khan, the relations between Afghanistan and Russia were marked by political, economic, and cultural influence. In particular, the Russian Empire's efforts to exert influence over Afghanistan, especially regarding border policy and security issues, were of great significance. Afghanistan sought to maintain its independence and attempted to establish diplomatic relations with Russia. At the same time, Russia aimed to expand its influence in Central Asia and sought to strengthen its position in Afghanistan. These relations led to a complex interaction and rivalry between the two states.
