AGRARIAN REFORMS IN THE EARLY YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE IN UZBEKISTAN: THE CASE OF KASHKADARYA AND SURKHANDARYA

This article analyzes the essence and content of the agrarian reforms carried out in Uzbekistan during the early years of independence, the renewal of forms of ownership in agriculture, the processes of establishing farmer and dehqan households, as well as the policy of reforming land relations. Using the examples of the Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, the article highlights the changes that have taken place in the agrarian sector, the distribution of household plots to the population, the reduction of cotton fields, the measures taken to increase grain production, and the development of livestock farming. The article provides a scholarly analysis of the challenges in the agrarian sector, shortcomings in management, and the initial results of the reforms.
