THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRAFTSMANSHIP IN THE KOKAND KHANATE UNDER EXTRACTIVE INSTITUTIONS
Ulugbek Kadirjanovich Yuldashev ,Abstract
Among the khanates of Central Asia, the Kokand Khanate stood out due to its favorable climate, abundance of land and water resources, population size, and ethnic characteristics. In the cities of the Kokand Khanate, certain achievements were made in the development of economic life and craftsmanship, which contributed to the expansion of both internal and external trade relations. However, the extractive institutions present in the political and economic life of the khanate hindered the further development of craftsmanship and the improvement of the economic conditions of artisans. This article analyzes the state of craftsmanship in the cities of the Kokand Khanate from an institutional perspective. The study employs historical and source analysis methods, focusing on the institutional aspects of data presented in historical sources and scholarly research. Conclusions are drawn regarding the impact of extractive institutions on the economic life of the khanate.
