The article analyzes the reports of E.K. Meyendorff on his journey to Bukhara in the early 19th century within the framework of the Russian diplomatic and trade mission led by A.F. Negri. It highlights the political and economic goals of the expedition, including trade expansion, mapping and the release of Russian captives.

The novelty of the work lies in presenting the mission as not only a diplomatic attempt but also as an intelligence-gathering enterprise, combining political, geographical, and ethnographic observations.

          The results show that despite the failure to conclude official agreements, valuable information about Bukhara’s internal life, trade routes, natural resources, and neighboring states was collected.

The study concludes that Meyendorff’s report became one of the main sources for studying Bukhara and Central Asia in Russian and European oriental studies.
