ISSUES OF SOCIAL STRATIFICATION IN MEDIEVAL UZBEK CITIES (BASED ON THE SCIENTIFIC LEGACY OF R.G. MUKMINOVA)

This article analyzes the processes of social differentiation of the urban population in Uzbekistan from the late 15th to the early 17th centuries based on a historical and source-based approach. The study relies on the scholarly legacy of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor R. G. Mukminova. Particular attention is paid to the social status of craftsmen, their role in the economic structure of medieval cities, and their dependence on feudal lords, merchants, and moneylenders. Using written, archaeological, ethnographic, and numismatic sources, the article reveals the characteristics of social and property stratification in medieval urban society.
