THE EXPRESSION OF PARADISE IMAGERY IN THE ARCHITECTURAL REPRESENTATIONS OF EASTERN MINIATURE PAINTING AND THE AESTHETIC VIEWS OF TILAB MAHMUDOV

The article analyzes, from a philosophical and aesthetic perspective, the ideas of paradise expressed through architectural imagery in Eastern miniature painting. Drawing on the Qur’anic image of paradise, the chahar bagh tradition, and Kamoliddin Behzod’s miniatures «Yusuf and Zulaykha» (1488) and «The Building of the Castle of Khawarnaq» (1494–1495), it reveals the symbolic content of images of the garden, pool, iwan, dome and palace. The article examines the distinctive treatment of light, colour and space in miniature painting and the historical continuity from the Herat and Bukhara schools to contemporary neo-miniature. Tilab Mahmudov’s views on the unity of form and content and on the capacity of beauty to guide a person toward perfection serve as the theoretical basis for interpreting these images.
