POLITICAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN IN CENTRAL ASIA: A COMPARATIVE LEGAL ANALYSIS

Sabrina Rakhmonova ,

Abstract

The article compares mechanisms ensuring women’s political rights in Central Asian states across six parameters. Effectiveness depends not on quota size but on how the protected category is defined, on placement requirements and on coverage. Six proposals for Uzbek legislation are formulated, including extending gender requirements to parliament-formed bodies.

Keywords

political rights of women, gender quota, candidate nomination quota, placement requirement, electoral legislation, comparative law, Central Asia.
